Shipping Instructions for Fish Carcasses
To ensure safe and clean delivery of your fish carcass, please follow these detailed instructions:
1. Cleaning the Carcass
Remove as much flesh and tissue as possible without damaging the bones.
Rinse thoroughly in clean water.
Avoid using harsh chemicals or bleach.
2. Drying
Allow the carcass to partially air dry to reduce odor and bacteria during transit.
3. Wrapping for Shipment
Wrap the carcass in absorbent material such as paper towels or butcher paper.
Place the wrapped carcass in a sealed plastic bag (double-bagging is preferred to prevent leakage).
For fresh or minimally dried specimens, include cold packs (not ice) to keep the temperature low. Avoid freezing unless instructed.
4. Boxing the Carcasses
Use a sturdy, leak-proof shipping box or insulated cooler designed and sealed to prevent leaks when shipped. These are available at many shipping supply stores and shipping centers.
Add padding (newspaper, bubble wrap, or foam) around the specimen to prevent movement and damage.
Clearly label the box “Fragile” and “Biological Specimen – Non-Hazardous”.
Do not break bones. Gently Bend carcass if needed to fit in box.
5. Shipping Method
